Your primary focus throughout the day consists of fantasizing and glorifying possible scenarios. You find yourself fixated on the object of your romantic desire. You frequently cancel your plans and obligations, with hopes to hear from them. You experience a significant amount of anxiety if periods of time pass, without having contact with this person. You find yourself feeling conflicted with wanting to complete tasks for yourself and thinking about how to keep a romantic partner. You often feel sad, insecure, and irritable within your romantic partnership. You may not be treated well or have past relationships that left you feeling wounded. You find dating to be exciting, scary, overwhelming, and a means to satisfy loneliness. You experience magical thinking and often play out scenes of love and romance in your imagination, which may not have any plausibility.
Is this group right for me?
This is a private, online support group for female adults, ages 30+. This group is designed for women to develop an understanding of how the absence of a secure self concept and identity, leads to unhealthy attachments. This virtual group meets once per week and consists of didactic education which helps examine fears, projected beliefs, and ruminating tendencies and patterns. Group members will develop insight into how we hold on to the ‘potential’ of an individual, rather than seeing the reality of what the present conditions may be in our relationships. Group members will develop skills that help cultivate awareness into patterns of glorifying partners when in unhealthy partnerships in order to improve functioning within romantic partnerships/marriages.
These groups are didactic and interactive in nature, meaning that the facilitator (a Licensed Psychotherapist) leads and structures the group. Each week, the group facilitator guides all discussions, and processes by providing education, answering questions, and teaching structured exercises and interventions.
Sharing is not required, however attendees are always given the opportunity to do so, if they yearn for emotional and intimate interpersonal connections.
These groups are designed as an interactive experience in which participants learn how to connect with vulnerability while gaining insight into emotional needs. Participants have the options to utilize an anonymous Pseudonym faux name if they choose to do so. All participants are kindly asked to have their cameras on to add to the cohesive experience. Our encrypted platform is HIPAA compliant and has full confidentiality secure limited access to registered group attendees only.
