Individual Career Counseling

what is vocational counseling?

Vocational counseling assists individuals with skill-building for both academic and occupational areas of life. This form of counseling focuses on career development while accounting for individualized needs for persons experiencing disabilities.

Securing gainful employment leads to higher levels of emotional fulfillment, psychological flexibility, and stability. Finding a career path is an essential part of our identity. Your therapist will help you identify your personal interests and match them to the necessary strengths in job opportunities. Depending upon your needs, vocational assessments will be distributed. Upon completion of the assessment, you will be presented with an overview of your scores.

Ongoing career counseling services include the following:

  • Researching academic programs (if interested in pursuing higher education)
  • Enrollment into academic programs
  • Resume building
  • Assistance with applications
  • Mock (preparation) interviews
  • Case management for job shadowing
